Wisdom for Wednesday

If you read my last Wisdom for Wednesday, this is your post- test!

How did the rest of your week go?  Did you posty-note your house with:

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me?

Did you get tested and look up and see it, think it, say it?  I did!

I am ready for another posty-note assignment.

January is half-way over and most years that’s when our resolutions slide down hill and end up in a muddled heap at the bottom. I’m doing a twenty-one day study with Holley Gerth, jump starting my goals and investing in God sized dreams.  Some days I have been positively giddy about what God is doing in my life.  I journal my goals with a fine tip sharpie and a flourish.  Other days I think, Who am I to think this is going to take place?  How is this going to work?  I have no idea how to go about accomplishing this goal.  I am failing at _______________.  This is just too big of a ME-sized dream.

Not true.  It is a GOD-sized dream- not a me sized dream.  It doesn’t mean I have to have everything in my life perfect.

“When God wants to do an impossible task, he takes an impossible person and crushes him.”  – a guest speaker at Chuck Swindoll’s seminary, 1959.

Do you feel like you are being crushed?  Going through a trial.  Living in one?  Have a child that is one? Finances so tight you don’t have extra pennies to pinch?  Don’t give up hope.  Nothing is impossible with God.  Not for God, but with God.  Are you with him?  Can you imagine being Mary? An angel appeared to her and presented the God-written goal:  “the Holy Spirit will come upon you….which shall be born of you will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35)  She wondered, how can this be just like we wonder, are you talking to me, God?  The answer.

“For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment.”  Luke 1:37

My goals weren’t written by an angel.  They were written by inspiration of  the Creator-God who I imitate.  If He wants them to come to pass, He will do it with me.  I  may be crushed, but not broken.  I may not know how he is going to bring it about.  It is too large for me to even fathom.  Nothing is impossible with HIM.

What goals has he put on your heart?

  • Train up your children in the ways of the Lord
  • Feed the orphans
  • Start a blog group or Bible study
  • Minister to your neighborhood
  • Open a soup kitchen

Get out your posty-notes and write:
Nothing is impossible with God!

Put it all over, right beside:
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Keep me posted!
