If you’ve ever considered adoption from another country, this is for you!
If you have thought about adoption, but just aren’t sure it’s for you, this is for you.
If you have adopted/fostered and and want to encourage others to do the same, this is for you!
If you are interested in giving a child hope in finding a forever family, this is for you!
I met Alex Amedro through our homeschooling co-op many years ago. She is a native of Colombia (the country) and a mother of five. Alex introduced me to Zumba, she is an instructor and was trained by the founder, Beto!
Alex and I have more in common than homeschooling, large families and our love of Zumba. We also both share a love for orphans. It’s not the kind of love that fills you with emotions and fades. It’s the kind of love that compels us to action. Alex told me of her idea of bringing orphans from her home country of Colombia, children eligible for adoption, to the states years ago. Now, that dream is a reality. Alex pursued the vision of the hosting program with the same intensity and vigor that she displays in her Zumba classes. Passion and intensity with a smile. Always a smile.
We met at Joe and Throw (a local coffee cafe and my second office)last week and talked for two hours. It was the kind of deep discussion that barely allows time for a sip of coffee. When two people equally invested in the same vision get together, sparks fly. Sparks of hope. Agreement. Purpose. Vision.
Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]—blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.- Proverbs 29:18
We as the body of Christ, know we are to care for the widows and orphans (James 1:27), sometimes we just don’t know how or where to start. It takes a visionary to take the lead. Alex is one of those. She has offered a way for you to participate in the caring of widows and orphans.
Want to know more?
Come to an informational meeting!
When: August 5th at 7:00pm
Where: Chestnut Ridge Church, Morgantown WV
“You are invited to an informal meeting to learn about the Colombian Hosting Program, which provides children growing up in foster care and orphanages in Colombia with the opportunity to experience family life in the United States. This opportunity to come to the United States is a “once in a lifetime” experience for these children.”
This is also an opportunity to meet Mateo, a ten year-old boy who is in Morgantown with the hosting family. He is hoping to find his forever family on this trip and will be at the meeting!
“Any questions you may have will be answered by a representative from the Child Welfare System of Colombia. You will also get to meet other families who have hosted previously. You will learn how hosting changes not only the lives of orphan children but also the live of host families. There is nothing more nourishing to the soul than the experience of giving a child HOPE.”
I’ll be there! I’ll be sharing about my vision to equip, educate and encourage adoptive/foster families with ETC Parent Training. Come sign up for a training. You can read more about them here.I might share a few minutes of my story. Come out and join us!
