The advent season is so full of activity and doing great things. Kids are overwhelmed by too much activity, especially kids from hard places. Kids from hard places come to us with past trauma. The Christmas season is full of triggers for that trauma. We parents have to be alert and aware of those triggers in order to help our kids regulate and cope. We parents must also practice self-care. Take coffee breaks. Decorate or whatever refreshes you. Don’t let the season be one of burnout. Rest in the Lord, wait patiently for him to act(psalm 37:7). Rest in Him and refresh in Him today!
There’s a big difference between being burned out for God and being poured out. Burning out will not multiply our results. It will hurt the quality of our work and life.
