2015 in Pictures

The New Year begins, I, like a  racehorse shoot out of the gate, with pen and paper in hand or a written list of  resolutions. New Year’s Day, I awake, groggy with a sleep-deprived sugar hang-over (I stayed awake until 11:57 this year).

I’ll exercise tomorrow.

I’ll write tomorrow.

I’ll organize tomorrow.

Tomorrow comes and I start my real life again. It seems as if I fall flat on my face before I get out of the gate, or maybe that is the me of the past. I’ve changed my perspective.

It is unrealistic to think that I (or you) will instantly turn into a new being because of turning a page on the calendar. What is true is that measurable goals can help me get where we need to go. Trying to get there overnight is ridiculous. I  make goals and plans with some grace in mind.It is sometimes difficult and I go back to driving myself faster than I can handle. Then I crash.

I love the ‘year in review’ posts because they help me get some perspective. What did David do in the Psalms when he was having a hard day? When he couldn’t achieve the goal of being king that he had been promised? When Saul was hunting him down?

15 My mouth shall tell of Your righteous acts and of Your deeds of salvation all the day, for their number is more than I know.

16 I will come in the strength and with the mighty acts of the Lord God; I will mention and praise Your righteousness, even Yours alone.

17 O God, You have taught me from my youth, and hitherto have I declared Your wondrous works.- Psalm 71: 15-17

He declared the wondrous works of the Lord. He declared past victories. I have a lot to celebrate. Yes, I have had grief and sorrow, but I have had grace, mercy in my time of need.

I decided to celebrate past victories, I put together a photo collage. I’m not a photographer.  So bear with me!
